The ALA Building Library Capacity Grant offered an opportunity to create a space for the growing programs in virtual reality and Esports at the Atlanta University Center (AUC) campuses, comprising of Morehouse College, Spelman College, and Clark Atlanta University. The original grant writing team was myself, Jessica Epstein, Andrea Jackson-Gavin, and Dr. Kimberley Bugg. Starting July 2023, the AUC Robert W. Woodruff Library recieved the grant and started the process of designing the room and ordering equipment. Jessica and I were the main project managers and the VR Lounge & Wellness Room launched August 29, 2024. Article in C&RL News (see Publications).

Movement, Memory, and Justice at Morehouse College (2022-2025)
The Mellon Foundation and Morehouse College Movement, Memory, and Justice (MMJ) Grant is devoted to the study of the intersections of Africana History, Digital Humanities, Justice, and Cultural Heritage Preservation, with an eye toward growing the Humanities disciplines in the Atlanta University Center.
In 2022, I was honored to be part of the inaugural cohort of faculty, staff, and students to participate in the Sites of Memory initiative, with a particular focus on Gullah-Geechee culture. Following our return, I presented my reflections during a fall symposium using Microsoft Sway—highlighting its potential as an accessible digital humanities tool for faculty across the Atlanta University Center (AUC). Since then, I have continued to actively support and attend a variety of events hosted by the MMJ project.
Starting in the year 2021, I have begun instructional design research in virtual reality for two campus iniatives: Morehouse College VR Project (Metaversity) and Morehouse College Mellon Public History and Digital Humanities Project Movement, Memory, and Justice Grant (MMJ). I first collaborated with co-Director of the MMJ grant Dr. Monique Earl-Lewis over the African American Experience course. Additionally, I have worked with Metaversity Director Dr. Muhsinah Morris, expanding the engagement and awareness of VR technology within the AUC Woodruff Library and AUC community (See International Games Day).
